This original work is an ink portrait of Queen of Morna Cesária Évora. The inspiration to paint this came from watching her 2004 "Live d'Amor" concert at Le Grand Rex recorded in Paris. I first heard of her via Stromae but only dove into her music after visiting Portugal. She was a big part of historical research I did before returning later to the country to live; hearing her voice even through a screen I felt like I had instantly acquired another grandmother looking out for me from a far yet close realm. It was my hope to transmit that warmth through this portrait. :)

Please note that this artwork ships unframed to save us both on cost and the earth on transport. Your new piece will find you in a flat, hard-back envelope to prevent wrinkling and creasing. When framing and/or hanging, consider placing it out of direct sunlight to preserve the paint and paper better. All artworks are signed on the backside of the paper (in addition potentially to other mad scribblings).
